Roles of reading anxiety and working memory in reading comprehension in English as a second language

چکیده

This study investigated the relationships between affective and cognitive factors reading comprehension in English as a second language (ESL). Specifically, we evaluated contributions of anxiety verbal working memory to ESL Chinese students. A total 105 undergraduates were included. Structural equation modeling results showed that anxiety, represented by trait state unique predictors comprehension. In addition, there was no significant × interaction effect. Mediation analyses revealed partially mediated relationship These highlight importance predicting shed light on methods enhancing learning.
